Narcotics Detectives Serve 13 Search Warrants on Suspected Drug Locations Washington Co. Sheriff’s Office – 05/19/09 Summary of Event: Today Investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies served 13 simultaneous search warrants in Washington County. This is part of an ongoing investigation led by the Westside Interagency Narcotics Team (WIN). 23 people were arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail Details of Event: On Tuesday, May 19, 2009, over 200 law enforcement officers from numerous agencies in the Portland-metro area participated in an operation led by the Westside Interagency Narcotics Team with the assistance of the Oregon Department of Justice. Search warrants were served at thirteen locations around Washington County and in the City of Portland. This morning’s activities are part of an ongoing and lengthy investigation that involves drug trafficking in the Portland Metropolitan Area. Overall 23 people were arrested this morning during the raids. No injuries were reported in any of the arrests. Three SWAT teams, including the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT), Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, Portland Police Bureau SERT, and Federal Bureau of Investigation SWAT were involved in the execution of the search warrants. Aside from WIN, which includes the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Beaverton Police, Hillsboro Police, Tigard Police, Sherwood Police, National Guard, and FBI, other agencies involved in this investigation are, Oregon Department of Justice, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), US Marshals Service, Portland Police Bureau, and US Drug Enforcement Administration. Aside from the above listed agencies, the following teams assisted WIN during this mornings activities. The Washington County Interagency Gang Enforcement Team, Metro Gang Enforcement Team, Clackamas County Interagency Task Force, Portland Police Drugs and Vice Division, Hillsboro Evidence Team, Washington County Sheriff’s Office Forensics Science Unit, Regional Organized Crime and Narcotics task force, Washington County Fraud and Identity Theft Enforcement team, and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigative Unit. Because this investigation is ongoing, WIN is unable to provide further details at this time. We do anticipate holding a press conference next week where we will lay out the details of the investigation and what it means to drug trafficking in Washington County.
