The Clark-Skamania Drug Task Force targeted drug traffickers in Vancouver on Friday, and arrested three people after observing them delivering heroin, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives then served search warrants on two apartment units at 3708 NE 109th Ave., where they arrested two more people and took five children into protective custody.

The arrested included Rosal Basurto-Velazquez, 19; Manuel Gomez-Renteria, 32; Angel Rosas-Miranda, 33; Carlos Rosas-Miranda, 28; and Elvia Rosas-Miranda, 34, all of Vancouver. They were charged with drug charges and charges related to the possession of stolen firearms, the sheriff’s office reported.

From the apartments, detectives seized about six ounces of heroin and one ounce of methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office.

They also seized four handguns found in the two apartments. Two of the handguns had been reported stolen in a November 2010 Hazell Dell, Wash., burglary.

Another handgun was found hidden between a rear seat cushion in one of the suspect’s vehicles after he was taken into custody, following a delivery of heroin. During the delivery, the sheriff’s office reported, the suspect’s infant child was in the vehicle, within inches of the handgun.

ICE holds anyone?

Just checked The Columbian here: http://www.columbian.com/news/2011/jan/15/vancouver-drug-bust-nets-meth-and-heroin/

They outright say this in the article: “Police indicated the suspects are Mexican citizens living in the United States illegally.”

A little less politically correct in Vancouver, I guess.

Emily didn’t get all the facts either because she is:

A: Lazy
B: Politically correct in her own opinions
C: Had her story edited by a pc editor.
D: Not a very good reporter.

People deserve to have all of the information, Emily.

Get it right next time.

KPTV 12 reported last night these criminals were ILLEGALS. Grow a backbone Oregonlive/Oregonian and have journalistic integrity to report the important facts instead of cowering to political correctness.

Clark Co. Sheriff’s Office – 01/15/11

On 1-14-11 the Clark-Skamania Drug Task Force conducted operations targeting a drug trafficking organization in Vancouver, WA. During the course of the day, Task Force detectives arrested three adults after they were observed making two deliveries of heroin. Following these arrests, Task Force detectives searched two homes which resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects as well as the seizure of large quantities of heroin, methamphetamine, cash, and firearms.

The searched homes are located at 3708 NE 109th Ave #GG12 and #AA11. A total of approximately 6 ounces of heroin and 1 ounce of methamphetamine was seized. Four of the five handguns were found in the two apartments. Two of these handguns were reported stolen in a previous burglary which occurred in November 2010 in Hazel Dell, WA.

One of the five handguns was found hidden between a rear seat cushion in one of the suspect’s vehicles after he was taken into custody following a delivery of heroin. During this delivery, the suspect’s infant child was in a child restraint seat within inches of the handgun.

All five adults were booked into the Clark County Jail on a variety of charges related to the possession and delivery of controlled substances as well as the possession of stolen firearms. All five are believed to be Mexican nationals in the United States illegally and have had immigration holds placed on them. They are:

Rosal Basurto-Velazquez (19), Vancouver
Manuel Gomez-Renteria (32), Vancouver
Angel Rosas-Miranda (33), Vancouver
Carlos Rosas-Miranda (28), Vancouver
Elvia Rosas-Miranda (34), Vancouver

In addition to the five suspects who were booked into jail, a total of five children ranging in age from 6 months to 15 years were placed in protective custody.

This investigation started as a result of information developed by the Career Criminal Apprehension Team during a different investigation. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Detective Unit assisted with yesterday’s operations.
