A 19-year old Portland resident was arrested for reckless driving by Oregon State Police (OSP) following a false claim he was having a diabetic emergency after being stopped Saturday afternoon going 114 mph on Interstate 5 near Highway 217. The man’s claim was confirmed false by paramedics that OSP requested respond to the stop scene to determine if he needed to go to a hospital.
On February 25, 2012 at approximately 5:20 p.m. an OSP trooper stopped a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V four-door southbound on Interstate 5 near Highway 217 after checking the vehicle at 114 mph in a 55 speed zone making unsignalled lane changes in traffic. Upon stopping the vehicle, the trooper contacted driver MOHAMMED ALI ALDHARERI, age 19, from southwest Portland.
ALDHARERI told the trooper he was having a diabetic emergency. The trooper requested paramedics respond to determine if he needed to go to a hospital. Responding paramedics evaluated his condition and confirmed he was not having a medical emergency.
ALDHARERI was arrested for Reckless Driving and taken to the Washington County Jail. He was also cited for Exceeding the Posted Speed in Excess of 100 mph to wit: 114 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. According to Washington County Sheriff’s Office, ALDHARERI was released from jail custody.
