An investigation by Oregon State Police (OSP) detectives initiated following a large party this weekend in Curry County led to the arrest of a 19-year old Coos Bay man on multiple sex crimes.
JONATHAN ALEJANDRO CASTRO ROMAN, age 19, from Coos Bay, was arrested March 13, 2012 by OSP detectives and lodged in the Curry County Jail on the following charges:
According to Curry County Sheriff’s Office, on March 10, 2012 at 9:45 p.m. an anonymous report was received about a large party with underage drinking at 49144 Highway 101 in Langlois, just south of the Curry/Coos County line. Shortly after midnight, the lone on-duty Curry County deputy and OSP troopers from the Gold Beach and Coos Bay offices arrived at the property and located at least 60 people, most of them under the influence of alcohol.
Property owner, JOHN B. WALLER, age 55, and over 20 adults and minors were cited for offenses including Furnishing Premises for Minors to Consume Alcohol and Minor in Possession of Alcohol. One juvenile male was also taken into protective custody for Interfering with a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
OSP and Curry County Sheriff’s Office remained at the scene until around 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning while awaiting the arrival of parents coming to pick up the detained juveniles.
On March 13, OSP was contacted by a person with information about an alleged rape of a 15-year old female at the party. OSP detectives investigated the allegations and subsequently arrested CASTRO ROMAN on the above-listed charges. The alleged crimes happened just before police arrived at the property but wasn’t reported to a friend of the victim until two days later.
Questions regarding the original incident should be directed to Curry County Undersheriff Bob Rector at (541) 247-3276. A copy of their news release related to the original incident response is provided with this release.
